at the edge of the site by open ground with scrub and scattered trees: juniper, pine -
at dusk the nightjars begin to fly and for a short time they can be seen, with their flapping, gliding flight - quickly crossing open patches of sky
they are scarcely seen at rest
some evenings their calls are absent
sometimes they can be heard later in the middle of nights
their songs vary from defined and sustained to almost transparent, close to inaudible
more like a.. moth than a bird
